Hiring your first employees in Zambia: a simple checklist

Taking on your first employees is a big step. Getting the basics right from day one saves problems later.

Give every employee a written contract that sets out their role, pay, hours and leave. Register as an employer with NAPSA and NHIMA, and with ZRA for PAYE, and keep monthly contributions up to date. Keep simple records of attendance, leave and payslips.

If you’d rather not handle this yourself, BFA People can manage recruitment, contracts and payroll for you. This article is general guidance, not legal advice.
